Our mission

YAF's Mission:                                            How we apply it at AMU:

Young American's for Freedom was founded at the home of William F. Buckley to ensure that the great ideals that America was founded on will be passed on to the next generation. YAF is a conservative youth organization, founded in 1969, whose stated mission is "ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values." YAF has worked with some of the greatest leaders of our country, namely President Ronald Reagan as the Honorary National Chairman to YAF's Advisory Board. Most recently Former Vice-President Mike Pence has joined YAF as a Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar. YAF has hundreds of college chapters across America, inspiring young people to take up the fight for freedom. Prominent YAF speakers include Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Scott Walker, Dinesh D'Souza, Steve Forbes, Ben Shapiro and many others.

We aim to apply the great conservative ideals that YAF espouses tangibly on campus in four ways.

  •  By hosting weekly meetings to discuss conservative issues and other political events

  •  Through issue tabling, where we pick a specific conservative issue to discuss with students, while also promoting our club

  • By attending YAF Conferences where students hear from some of the greatest conservative minds both changing minds and strengthening already held conservative beliefs

  • Through hosting on-campus speakers is the most direct way of engaging students on campus with conservative ideas
